Alumni and current students of Oak Grove Elementary gathered for a golden occasion.

The school, on Grandin Road Extension in Roanoke County celebrated 50 years Sunday afternoon.

The school's cafeteria was dressed up to look like a 50s soda shop for the day for class reunions and a reception.

A video montage brought back many memories for teachers, staff and students old and new.

"I went here in the 80s, now my son goes here now," says Troy Sisson.  "We're proud to be a part of the Oak Grove family."
