The Radford Highlanders Men's Basketball Team was picked to win the Big South this season.

RU came up a little short and is the second seed heading into this week's conference tournament, but they do enter the tournament with the League's Player of the Year.

For the second straight season, Art Parakhouski has been voted the 'Big South Player of the Year.'

Art leads the Conference in scoring, rebounding, and field goal percentage.

If he stays on top in those categories, he will become just the second player all-time in the league to lead the Big South in all three categories.

Art not the only Radford Senior to earn accolades from the Big South. Phillip Martin who played his high school ball at Roanoke Catholic was named the Conferences Scholar Athlete of the Year by the leagues Sports Information Directors. Phillip who is a double Major has a 3.9 GPA, he would have a perfect 4.0 if not for two B's during his freshman year.

The first step in reaching that goal is Tuesday Night, when the Highlanders host Charleston Southern in quarterfinal contest at the Dedmon Center.
