What if we told you there was a way you could help lower your cholesterol and blood pressure and help you live longer and it was absolutely free? There is.
It's an easy as putting one foot in front of the other and walking.
That's what people were doing on their lunch hour Wednesday in downtown Roanoke, trading the heels and wing tips for sneakers.
It was Roanoke's Start Walking Day, the idea is to get the word out about how much simply going for a daily walk can do for you.
"Exercise can help treat some of the symptoms of chronic disease, heart disease, diabetes high blood pressure, cholestrol...all of those things can be managed wtih diet and regular physical activity," says Ally Bowerstock of the Jefferson College of Health Sciences.
"I mean it just makes you feel better. You know it gives you more energy, makes you feel better, you know and must makes you feel good," says Judy Kelly
