Roanoke's National Guard Armory will be gone by the end of the month.
Demolition has begun, on the back of the building, out of sight of anyone passing by on Reserve Avenue.
The city pushed to get the Armory torn down by the end of last year.
The Guard was put on notice to vacate the Armory several years ago. Troops and material lingered on.
There are no immediate plans for the property, though the site is part of a proposed 35-acre water park.
