About 250 cadets graduated from Virginia Military Institute Sunday morning.
Congress Bob Goodlatte was the commencement speaker for the ceremony in Lexington.
The Roanoke representative commended the cadets for their dedication.
"The experiences you have had here at VMI have shaped you into the remarkable men and women that sit before us," said Goodlatte.
"It feels really great right now," graduate Virginia Taylor said after the ceremony. "I'm just excited to have gotten through everything, and I wouldn't have traded it for the world."
The next step for nearly 100 of them is to join the military.
