The William Byrd Terriers baseball team won the regular season crown in the Blue Ridge District.
They were looking to back that up with a tournament title as well. But the Blue Ridge was a tight race this season and the 4 seed Alleghany had other ideas in the semi-finals.
The game on Tuesday was played at Staunton River, but the Terriers quickly found themselves in a hole.
In the top of the first bases were loaded for Seth Bradley who served one into left field. Two runs come into score on the hit, another would score on an errant throw and the Mountaineers were up 3 to nothing.
More Alleghany offense, Bradley again this time he went up the middle, and two more runs come into score and the lead was up to 8 to nothing.
That was plenty of offense as Taylor Carter gave up just one hit to the Terriers in throwing a shutout, he had plenty of defensive help behind him and Alleghany advances to the Tournament Title game with a 12 to nothing win.
