Karen Kiley is the New River Valley Newsroom Chief. Before moving to the New River Valley, she worked as a general assignment reporter in the Lynchburg newsroom. She joined the News 7 team in June 2010, after working in West Virginia for the past three years. Karen was a reporter and weekend anchor/producer at WBOY-TV in North Central WVa.
A native of Maryland, Karen grew up and attended college in the Free State. She graduated from the University of Maryland in 2007 with a degree in Broadcast Journalism and a concentration in government and politics. She’s out-numbered here in Va. but is still proud to be a Terp!
Karen’s journalism career began in college with multiple internships and summer jobs. She’s worked on stories from the White House and Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., to Camden Yards in Baltimore, MD.
In her time off from reporting, Karen loves to be outdoors. In the summer, you’ll find her out on the water; swimming and boating. When snow covers the ground, Karen will be up in the mountains, improving her snowboarding skills.
