Danville police search for gunman who fired into occupied car

Woman says she was injured by glass shattered by gunfire

DANVILLE, Va. — It was a close call for several people at a Danville crossroads Wednesday morning.

Danville police say a car was hit with gunfire at the intersection of South Main Street and Central Boulevard around 2:45 Wednesday morning.

One woman was taken to Danville Regional Medical Center and treated for minor injuries.  The woman told police she was not shot, but was hit with glass shattered by gunfire.

Police say the suspected shooter is a black man in his early 20's.  They believe he drives a dark green SUV, possibly a Jeep Cherokee.
