LYNCHBURG, Va. —
Liberty University is celebrating a major accomplishment for its law school.
LU's school of law was awarded full accreditation this weekend by the American Bar Association.
The school opened in 2004. They've had provisional accreditation since 2006.
Monday, faculty and staff celebrated the milestone.
Liberty officials traveled to San Fransisco last week for accreditation hearings.
They were granted full approval by the bar association on their first application.
"Our mission has been to train students to go out into all walks of life and to every profession to impact the world and no profession can have more of an impact on the culture than the legal profession," says Liberty University Chancellor, Jerry Falwell, Jr.
Along with its juris doctor, the school plans to offer additional degrees including a master's in public policy and a doctorate in law.
