ROANOKE, Va — A man dubbed as the "Granddad Bandit", who has ties to robberies in Roanoke and Richmond, has been captured.

The FBI picked up the man in Louisiana. He is suspected in 25 bank robberies including one at the Valley Bank on Church Avenue in downtown Roanoke in 2009.

The robberies spanned 13 states.

There was a short standoff at a home in Louisiana, but it ended peacefully.

Last week the FBI began posting his picture on billboards across the country in an effort to catch him.
