MONTGOMERY CO., Va. — It's been one year since two Virginia Tech students were murdered in Montgomery County.

The case remains unsolved.

Their memories were honored at the place they were killed on Thursday night.

The young couple was shot and killed in the Caldwell Fields area of the Jefferson National Forest.

Their bodies were found in this parking area, and on Thursday night about 15 people gathered to remember the teens.

David and Heidi drove out to this spot to talk and play guitar.

Lisa Lucas Gardner organized the gathering and said she hope people will return to remember what happened here.

"They came down to have a camp fire and to spend time together.  So, that's what we're doing tonight.  We're celebrating their lives.  We're spending time together in fellowship.  We're having that camp fire and doing it as a sense of community," said Gardner.

On the way out there, our News 7 crew was one of many cars to be pulled over and questioned.

State Troopers and Montgomery County Sheriff's deputies asked for driver's licenses, addresses, phone numbers and whereabouts the night of the murders.
