BEDFORD, Va. — Former Staunton River High School football Coach Rick Witt will not stand trial Tuesday, as scheduled.
Witt's attorney asked the judge for a continuance to allow an expert witness to examine computer records, according to Bedford County's Commonwealth's attorney Randy Krantz. Krantz objected to the continuance.
The trial is now scheduled for December 7.
Witt is charged with five counts of taking indecent liberties with a minor. He's accused of having unlawful contact with two girls, ages 16 and 17.
Previously, a judge ruled that each girls' case will be handled separately, during two different trials.
The second trial date will be determined after the December 7 case is finished, said Krantz.
Witt is currently out on bond.
