Plans for Lynchburg golf course property to be discussed at open house

Partners in the Oakwood Country Club project will discuss their plans and hear comments Sunday

LYNCHBURG, Va. — Lynchburg residents are getting a chance this weekend to see plans for a new housing development on what has been a golf course.

The owners of the former Oakwood Country Club golf property are holding an open house Sunday.  They want to build around 90 homes on roughly 75 acres off Rivermont Avenue.

The new subdivision will be called "The Preserve at Oakwood."  Plans to build on the property have been met with opposition in the past because the golf course is one of the few large, open spaces left in Lynchburg.

Partners in the development will hear your comments about their project from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday at the Oakwood Country Club.
