CLIFTON FORGE, Va. — There was one final performance before the curtain fell on a beloved theatre in Alleghany County.

The Masonic Theatre in Clifton Forge is temporarily closing for restoration.

Members of the community spent Saturday night at the 105-year-old theatre listening to live music.

"As we started restoration of this theatre, the affinity for it just became obvious as the folks in town said, 'It's about time we're going to have our theatre back,'" says President of the Masonic Theatre Preservation Foundation John Hillert.

Once restoration is complete, the building will have state-of-the-art technology while maintaining its historic feel.

It will be both a performance and movie theatre, and will also offer space for community events.

The goal is to re-open next November.
