ROANOKE, Va. — One nomination is decided, and another is coming soon in the 8th House District.

Republicans have already nominated attorney Greg Habeeb. Jeweler Ginger Mumpower is now seeking the Democratic nomination that will be decided next week. A campaign aide confirmed that Mumpower is running.

Democrats will choose their candidate during a mass meeting Tuesday night.

Voters will decide who succeeds Morgan Griffith in the General Assembly on January 11th, the day before state lawmakers convene in Richmond.

Meanwhile, another candidate put his name in the running to replace Robert Hurt's Senate seat.

Scott Brooks announced plans to run Saturday afternoon in Danville.  The GOP nomination for that race will be decided Tuesday.
