Jay Webb joined the First Alert weather team in July 2006.  He grew up in Giles County where he constantly watched the weather and "Your Hometown News Leader."

Jay graduated from Emory & Henry College in 1999, and from Mississippi State University's Broadcast Meteorology Program in 2006.  He has worked in Bristol at WCYB and WHSV in Harrisonburg, where he spent six years forecasting morning weather for Virginia's Shenandoah Valley.

Jay's weathercasts have been awarded both the American Meteorological Society's Seal of Approval (AMS) and National Weather Association's Seal of Approval (NWA).  Additionally, Jay is a SKYWARN weather spotter for the National Weather Service.   Jay's coverage of a major wind storm that hit the Roanoke Valley in 2008 contributed to WDBJ7 winning an Emmy for Best Weekend Newscast.

Jay and his wife Sarah have two wonderful children; son Parker and daughter McKenzie.  Jay and his family are also the proud owners of their slightly overweight dachshund, Niles.  The Webb family lives in Roanoke County.
