A CSX train worker is still in critical condition tonight after falling off of a bridge Tuesday.

Today a fundraiser for AJ Boguess and his family was held in Covington.

Boguess fell an estimated 50 feet into the Jackson River as part of a crew switching cars into the MeadWestvaco paper mill.

This morning, friends collected money for his family and raffled off baked goods.

Boguess served in the Iraq War and came back to work at C-S-X after being laid off.

“I mean the guy fights for us, serves our country, comes back home, gets laid off from his job, he returns back to work and then this incident happens,” family friend Stephanie Nelson said.

“He needs a lot of support right now and prayers.”

The train's switchman reportedly went into the freezing water to save Boguess.

The accident is still under investigation.
