GALAX; Va. — The Galax Police Department is investigating the death of an 18-year-old woman.
Fanny Rios was a senior at Galax High School, just weeks away from graduating.
Rios died early Monday morning. The cause of death is still under investigation.
Police were called to her home, where she lived with a boyfriend, around 2 am Monday. Rios' body was sent to the medical examiner's office for an autopsy.
The medical examiner found no visible signs of trauma, according to police. They are still waiting on results from a toxicology report before an official cause of death can be determined, police said.
Rios went to a doctor's appointment the day before she died, complaining of an allergic reaction. Police have not determined if that played any role in her death.
Grief counselors will be available for Rios' classmates at Galax High School Wednesday when students return to classes from spring break.
