ROANOKE, Va — Police are keeping a close eye on a parking garage in Roanoke city after a woman was assaulted there.

According to police, the woman reported she was walking to her car Thursday evening inside the Gainsboro parking garage off Shenandoah Avenue in Roanoke. She says a man came up to her and grabbed her groin area then ran away.

The person hasn't been caught.

On Friday afternoon, a Roanoke City police officer patrolled the garage on foot.

Many say they were surprised to hear when it happened since the garage is usually busy around 5p.m. when people are getting off work.

"That I am surprised especially since there's somebody there," says Christine Lee who lives nearby, "I'm not sure where in the structure it happened but there's somebody still at the booth at 5 o'clock."

Roanoke City police say the victim was not hurt in the assault.

So far no arrests have been made.  Police describe the suspect as a white man with blonde hair. He's 6'3" and weighs about 165 pounds.
