MONTGOMERY CO., Va. — Construction on Interstate 81 caused more delays Tuesday. Blasting sent a large boulder and some trees onto the highway in Montgomery County.

A rolling roadblock slowed traffic at 11 Tuesday morning, but the road had to be closed after the boulder and trees went over a barricade near mile marker 121.

The Virginia Department of Transportation brought in a backhoe to remove the large rock. Some drivers were stuck in traffic for more than an hour. This is the second time since early June that blasting has caused major delays in the area.
