Roanoke, Va. — A new shuttle bus connecting riders from Roanoke to the Amtrak train in Lynchburg debuts on Tuesday.

The Smart Way Connector will run twice a day departing from the Roanoke Civic Center.  One-way tickets are $4.  Click here for additional pricing and parking information.

Eventually, the connector buses will be 16-seaters and Amtrak passengers will have priority.  Soon, train riders will be able to reserve their seat on the bus online when booking their train tickets.  For now, it's first come first serve.

All bus rides will be free for passengers Tuesday to celebrate the new service.  The first ride leaves at 5:50 a.m. followed by the final ride of the day which departs at 7:30.  Hours of operation do change on Fridays and the weekends.  Click here to see travel hours.
