UPDATED: All lanes of I-81 reopened after crash near Lexington

Both northbound lanes on Interstate 81 are closed following a tractor trailer crash and fire early this morning.

ROCKBRIDGE CO., Va. — UPDATED 4:00pm:

Traffic is moving once again on Interstate-81 in Rockbridge County, after an overnight tractor trailer crash.

It happened near mile marker 196, near Lexington, at about 3:00am. The truck was hauling thousands of pounds of oranges when it crashed in the northbound lanes.
   

Traffic had to be detoured onto Route 11 during the clean-up.

All lanes were reopened at about 1:15 this afternoon. No one was hurt.

Both northbound lanes on Interstate 81 are closed following a tractor trailer crash and fire early this morning. The accident happened at mile marker 196 in Rockbridge County near the City of Lexington around 3:00 a.m.

Traffic is being detoured at exit 195 onto Route 11, which is in the Lexington and Timber Ridge area.  Traffic rejoins I-81 at exit 213, which is the Greenville area of Augusta County, south of Staunton.

The truck was hauling 42,000 lbs. of oranges. The truck was owned by E & F Trucking Incorporated, based in Denver, Pennsylvania.

The driver of the truck was not hurt in the crash.

Officials at the crash site estimate that the road will re-open around noon. Motorists should expect delays.
