CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. — There is a basketball border war going on at Christiansburg High School.
Blue Demons girls basketball coach Trevor Lampman has put together a summer basketball tournament between ten girls teams from North Carolina and Southwest Virginia.
"What I've tried to dream, the vision I've had is have North Carolina schools come play Virginia schools and decide who is the best," Lampman said.
The inaugural Border Wars tournament began yesterday and continues through Saturday's championship.
The other schools from our region are Auburn, Blacksburg, Carroll County, Floyd, Glenvar and Hidden Valley.
All proceeds benefit the Christiansburg basketball boosters, and the tournament provides great competition for the teams.
Coach Lampman says next year he hopes to have more teams from Northern Virginia, the Tidewater region and North Carolina shoot it out in the Border War.
