Water main break in downtown Roanoke closes streets

Downtown Roanoke residents may experience low water pressure.

ROANOKE, Va. — A water main break has closed part of Franklin Road in downtown Roanoke.

The break is near the intersection of Elm Avenue and Franklin Road.

Elm Avenue is closed coming from downtown to Franklin Road.

Also, Franklin Road is closed headed toward downtown.

Detours are in place starting at the intersection of Jefferson Ave. and Franklin Road.

Residents in downtown Roanoke may experience decreased water pressure because of the break.

Crews are expected to be working to repair the water line for most of the night.
