Floyd County fire ruled accidental

Even though it's ruled an accident, police say they're "continuing to look into it"

FLOYD CO., Va. — Investigators say a fire in Floyd County, that forced an elementary school to shut down, started from an overturned candle.

The house on Floyd Highway or route 221 in caught fire last Thursday.

The fire was so severe, smoke closed the roadway and eventually nearby Check Elementary.

The fire is still being investigated.
