ROANOKE, Va. — If you've ever thought of adding a "furry" addition to your home, today's the day!
The Roanoke Center for Animal Control and Protection is opening its doors so that these animals can be adopted.
It's part of a nationwide initiative called, "Just One Day."
The idea behind it is to end the euthanasia of healthy, treatable animals.
Last year, the event saved more than 10,000 animals nationally.
That's why animal groups around the region are facilitating reduced priced adoptions today.
“It's a huge impact, people say it's just one day. Well, one day makes a huge difference in the life of these animals and even if you can't take a dog home today or a cat home today, and you can please come by and support onsite adoptions at the pound,” Waynette Anderson said.
The Just One Day event is happening Tuesday at the pound on Baldwin Avenue in Roanoke.
