Roanoke Police responded to an accident involving a car and a moped Sunday afternoon. Officers were called to the intersection of 13th Street and Campbell Avenue around 1:30. The moped rider is being treated for injuries. Police shut down the intersection for several hours.

A 26 year old woman lost her life on Route 232 in Radford Wednesday night. Just before 6 p.m. Ashley Nicole Sides-Stoots was driving East towards Radford, and drove over the median and into a tree. She was taken to the New River Valley Medical where she was pronounced dead.

An employee with C-S-X freight trains was hurt in an accident near the Jackson River in Covington. Police there say the call came in Tuesday night, a little after seven p.m. and that the worker was found near the bank of the river. There's no word yet on what caused the accident. We're told a helicopter took the employee to Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

An accident is causing major delays on Interstate 81 North in Roanoke County. The accident is at mile marker 136. According to VDOT, traffic is backed up 11 miles. The north right lane is closed.

Traffic flow has returned to normal. The accident was cleared at about 2:30 p.m. The wreck involved a camper and a pick-up truck. No one was injured. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Traffic is backed up for nearly 4 miles after an accident along Interstate 81 in Roanoke Co. It happened along mile marker 141 late Sunday morning. The north right lane is currently closed. Check back for more updates.

A woman is dead after an accident this morning on Route 614. It happened in Patrick County. 57-year-old Theresa Stanley was killed when her car went off the road and struck an embankment. Police say she was not wearing a seatbelt.

A driver has been charged following an accident in Roanoke County. It happened Saturday afternoon around 3:45 in the 3800 block of Sterling Road. Authorities say the driver overcorrected and ran off the roadway, striking an embankment. No one was hurt. The driver has been charged with failure to maintain control of his vehicle.

Five people were taken to the hospital after an accident in Covington. Around 8:45 p.m. Saturday, police say two cars collided on Route 60 about a mile and a half west of town. One person was thrown from the car. Police were not able to confirm the conditions of the patients taken to the hospital.

Two people died in a car accident Friday night. Authorities say neither was wearing a seatbelt. The accident happened in Henry County around 8:45. It happened on Route 672 a few miles north of Route 57. State Police say the driver lost control of his Toyota Corolla and hit a tree. Both passengers, who were from Bassett, died at the scene. They were 20-year-old Courtney Montgomery and 21-year-old Clinton Hughes. The driver survived and was rushed to Martinsville Memorial Hospital.

A man died after a boating accident at Rural Retreat Lake.  Police say he went fishing Saturday morning around 7:30 when he went missing.  His body was found shortly before 11 Sunday morning.  An autopsy will be held to figure out how the man died.  Police say he was not wearing a life-jacket.

The rush hour commute along Route 220 south in Boones Mill is flowing smoothly, after a tractor trailer flipped into the grass in Franklin County Monday morning. State Police think the truck driver had some kind of medical emergency. Several drivers passing by say they saw the driver slump over seconds before the crash. ============================================= 11:14 a.m. Monday: Drivers can expect delays on U.S. 220 in the Boones Mill area of Franklin County.    Police say the tractor trailer overturned and went into the grass around 10:30 Monday morning.

The pedestrian killed by a truck Tuesday night in Christiansburg has been identified. Bobby Ray Nunley was hit by a Ford F-350 pick-up truck while walking down Roanoke Street around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday night. Nunley, 68, was homeless. Virginia State Police have released the name of the truck driver killed in an accident in Patrick County Monday morning.    Joseph Rodger Hall, 58  they say died at the scene.  He was from McKenney, Virginia.    Hall was driving around 11:30 a.m. when police say he crossed the median on Route 58, traveled into the opposite lane, before the the truck hit a tree and caught on fire.  Hall was two tenths mile west of Route 854. ...

Around a hundred people came out to honor two children Thursday evening. Jaden Baker, who was just eight, and her 4-year-old cousin Delaney Bishopriggs, died last Friday night in a car wreck on the U-S 11 Bypass Bridge in Lexington. Dozens of candles were lit as the community sang songs and remembered Delaney and Jaden. People also wore purple and pink as those were the girls favorite colors. It's been nearly a week since the crash, but family members are still having a hard time believing what happened.

Crews are working to tow the tractor-trailer. Officials are hoping the accident will be cleared shortly. ================================== There is an accident on Route 460 at the Mt. Athos ramp involving a tractor trailer. Drivers should avoid the area, if possible. The Virginia Department of Transportation says the east left lane and right lane are closed. Drivers can expect potential delays. Westbound traffic has been reduced to one lane. Drivers traveling eastbound are being diverted onto one of the westbound lanes.
