Route 60 in Amherst County is closed after a logging truck crashed Wednesday. According to the Virginia Department of Transportation, the accident is about four miles east of Buena Vista. Route 60 in that area is expected to be closed for several hours. Traffic is being detoured around the site. VDOT says that large trucks are waiting near the wreck so they can pass through. Roads in that part of Amherst County are slick, VDOT says.

We're still waiting to get more information about a bus accident at Liberty University. The accident happened around 8:30 this evening. Police tell us the bus went into a ditch. Three people were taken to the hospital but are expected to be okay. We'll update this story as information becomes available.

The Christiansburg man killed in a single-vehicle accident Friday in Montgomery County has been identified by investigators. Robert Custer, 48, died after his 1991 Ford Ranger when off Spaulding Road and hit a tree. The accident happened around 8:45 a.m. in the 3000 block of Spaulding Road, near Route 663 (Walton Road). Investigators say Custer was not wearing a seat belt. He was pronounced dead at the scene. =========================== 11:15 a.m. : A man is dead after an accident Friday morning in Montgomery County.

The accident has been cleared. ===================== One lane of traffic on Route 220 North is moving again. A tow-truck is on the way. ===================== 12:00 p.m. : Traffic on Route 220 North is slow going right now. Two tractor-trailers crashed in Roanoke County, near the Franklin County line. Police dispatchers say the northbound lanes are blocked near Dunahoo Drive, which is on the Roanoke County side of Franklin County-Roanoke County line. Callers tell us northbound traffic is backing up to the Boones Mill area.

An accident involving a Jeep Cherokee and a moped in Lynchburg on Monday has resulted in the death of a Lynchburg man. The moped driver was identified as Lewis Crews, 51. Crews was transported to Lynchburg General Hospital after the accident. He died on Tuesday morning as a result of the injuries. The crash took place in the 2100 block of Langhorne Road in Lynchburg on Monday evening, according to a press release. The Lynchburg Police Department's Traffic Safety Unit is still investigating the crash.

The accidents on Interstate 77 North on the New River Bridge in Wythe County have been cleared and traffic delays are no longer expected, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation. ============================= 9:07 a.m. : Ice is to blame for a wreck that has both lanes of Interstate 77 North blocked on the bridge over the New River in Wythe County. State Police say the bridge is icy and it's caused three wrecks in all. Two of the wrecks were cars sliding on the ice and hitting the guard rail.

 A man was taken to the hospital after accidentally shooting himself in Danville Saturday morning. Authorities say the man was cleaning a pistol when it accidentally discharged in his hand. He has a bullet wound in his hand but is expected to okay.

UPDATED: 9:10 p.m. A seven-year-old is in the hospital after being hit by a minivan Saturday evening The accident happened shortly after 6:30 at the intersection of Hershberger Road and Ordway Drive. The child was crossing the street with family members when the accident happened. He was conscious and speaking at the scene, and was transported to Roanoke Memorial Hosptial. No charges have been filed at this time. The wreck remains under investigation.

Many parents will tell you, a car accident involving their child is their worst nightmare. Beth Worth has a 17-year-old daughter and worries every time she gets behind the wheel. "We have very open and frank discussions about the perils of alcohol and what she should be aware of," said Worth, who works as a public information specialist for Campbell County. Many parents aren't having that discussion with their children and that could be why so many accidents involve teenagers who drink and drive.

The traffic backup is down to one mile. ================== 10:13 a.m. Monday : A tractor-trailer accident on Interstate 81 North in Rockbridge County is slowing traffic. The accident is near mile marker 201. Traffic is backed up about two miles. The north right lane and right shoulder are closed.
