Some of Diana White's earliest memories involve her father serving in the military. "My father spent 21 years in the Marine Corp," White said.  "He's a lifer, so I'm a Marine Corp brat. " When she was born, White's parents were stationed at Camp LeJeune, a Marine base in North Carolina. White doesn't remember living there.  She was only 2 when she moved, but that brief chapter at the beginning of her life may have caused a severe problem that will stay with her until she dies.

The William Fleming Colonels failed to turn the scoreboard on opening night last week against Franklin County.  This week things figured to be equally tough against an Amherst County team that lived on big plays in week one. The Colonel did his part in keeping everyone entertained on a steamy night in the valley. Amherst's Marquis Brown came out pretty hot himself.  After an early TD run, he blasted in from two yards out to give his team a 15-0 lead in the first quarter. Khalil Bonds then stole some of that momentum back for the homestanding Colonels, as he stepped in front of a pass and raced 40 yards all the way to the Amherst 10 yard line, leading to a field goal, Fleming's first points of the season.

Someone is vandalizing cars, homes, and churches in Amherst County. In the last two weeks, deputies have received 25 different complaints about destruction in Madison Heights and Monroe. A few days ago, someone spray painted the numbers "666" and satanic symbols on a sign in front of Peoples Baptist Church. Investigators tell us they don't think this is a hate crime.  They believe the same person spray painted graffiti on nearby cars and houses. Deputies are pretty sure a teenager is behind the crimes.
