Police in Blacksburg say a surveillance camera helped catch a convicted sex offender,  but not before he sexually assaulted three children. The first assault took place the middle of May, that's when staff from the Montgomery- Floyd Regional Library told police something bad had happened. On just about any day, you'll find loads of moms and kids at the Montgomery Floyd Regional Library, usually within eyesight of each other. Last month, library officials say one mom walked up to the counter saying her child had been molested.

WDBJ7 has uncovered a startling lawsuit that claims a large company in Roanoke was negligent and caused a woman to be raped. It sues Cosmetic Essence Incorporated, or CEI, a makeup manufacturer, housed in the old Elizabeth Arden plant on Plantation Road. The suit claims, CEI hired a violent sex offender who sexually assaulted the woman, and then tried to cover up the attack. We've chosen not to name the woman, even though she's not anonymous in the suit, because she's the victim of a sex crime.

Police in Danville are looking for two robbers who pulled a man from his car and stole his money. It happened on Melville Avenue near Verne Street just before 9:00 p.m. Monday. The victim was sitting in his car on the street when the robbers attacked. The robbers had long guns, like shotguns or rifles. They roughed-up their victim before stealing an undisclosed amount of money from him and then running off. The victim had to go to the hospital, but he's not hurt badly.

A man accused of sexually assaulting children in the Blacksburg Public Library and a grocery store was found guilty on two counts of sexual battery Tuesday. Danny Dillow, 47, appeared in Montgomery County Circuit Court Tuesday. He faces up to 40 years in prison.                                                                                                   The Blacksburg Public Library incident happened on April 21, 2012 and involved an 11-year-old girl.

A Roanoke man was arrested early Sunday morning and charged with sexually assaulting a male student on the Roanoke College campus.  Hung Phi Nguyen is charged with sexual battery and is free on bond. Police believe Nguyen groped the 19 year old male student early on the morning of September 3rd.  The incident on the Salem campus led Roanoke College to warn all students.

Two Roanoke men were arrested early Friday morning for robbing and stabbing a man in the downtown Roanoke area. Colten Faulk, 23, and Demario Vessels, 21, were each arrested on robbery, aggravated assault, and drug possession charges related to the incident. According to the Roanoke Police Department, the robbery and assault took place on Friday. Officers located the victim at the intersection of Jefferson Street and Kirk Avenue around midnight. He told police he was walking on Campbell Avenue with an acquaintance when two men yelled to them, and as they continued walking, the men approached them.

Charlottesville and the University of Virginia community are on guard after two reported sexual assaults. They both happened Sunday morning, one just before 2 a.m., the other just before 4 a.m. Police say they might be related. The incidents occured a few blocks from U.Va. grounds. In each case, a white male between 20 and 30 years old jumped out of the bushes and tried to attack females but was chased off. The victim in the second assault is a student at U.Va.

A Bedford County woman is accused of cutting a man and then assaulting a sheriff's deputy. The Bedford County Sheriff's Office says that after they tracked down Jessica Hiner on Wednesday night and told her she was being charged with malicious wounding, she assaulted a deputy and refused to be handcuffed. The victim who was cut was treated for hand and chest lacerations at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Hiner is being held in the Blue Ridge Regional Jail without bond.

A Roanoke man faces several charges after police say he assaulted two family members and a family friend.  Police were called to Plantation Road near Orlando Avenue Saturday morning for an intoxicated subject walking in the middle of the road.  During the course of the investigation, officers identified the subject as Troy Henley.  Police say Henley assaulted two family members and a family friend.  According to a news release, "Information...

A man is accused of assaulting a teenage girl in an alley in Roanoke. The 15-year-old told police she was walking on Mountain Avenue around 6:30 Monday night when the man pulled her into that alley. An officer actually heard her screams and ran to help. That's when her attacker ran off, throwing down a knife as he ran. Police eventually caught and arrested Jamelle Banks. The girl was not hurt. On Monday, November 12, 2012, at 6:33pm, Sgt. J. W. Hicks heard the scream of a female coming from the alley south of Mountain Avenue while he was investigating an unrelated matter in the 500 block of Mountain Avenue.
