Grayson welcomed Mountain Empire rival Fort Chiswell to town. It was senior night for the Blue Devils Friday night.  And Xavier Rodriguez wasted no time in getting the celebration started.  He fields the reverse on the opening kickoff, and looks for an opening.  Rodriguez started to the far sideline and gets clogged up there before he reversed his field.  Eventually he picks up a couple of big blocks and finds daylight.  He's taking it...

At Fort Chiswell this week, the Pioneers had already set a school record for wins in a season with 11.  Stephen James and his team wanted to set a new one with their 12th, taking on a John Battle team from Bristol, that knocked out Giles a week ago. It was a standing room only crowd tonight at the Fort. The Pioneers were up 7-nothing in the third quarter.  But the Trojans Carter Harlow slipped in on the three yard touchdown to tie the score at 7 and to setup a fantastic finish.

This week's FFE Player of the Week made a little history last Friday night. Fort Chiswell's Daniel Hamm dropped the hammer on Floyd County in a 45 to 21 win, joining Chris Rodriguez as the only two Pioneers players to win Player of the Week honors. “I just ran hard, wanted it.  It's my senior year so I have to go out with a bang,” Hamm said. He did that and then some against Floyd County, proving that you actually can roller skate in a Buffalo Herd.  Daniel rambled for 325 yards on 21 carries against the Buffs, finding the endzone five times.  It was a career night, perhaps the best in the 52- year history of Fort Chiswell High School.
