ACC weekly awards rolled in for a pair of Wahoos Monday. Steve Greer was named linebacker of the week after a 15-tackle, 2 sack performance against Penn State. And Oday Aboushi was named offensive lineman of the week.         Both players will play key roles as UVa goes on the road for the first time this weekend. Virginia was 4-1 on the road last year and will take its first trip of 2012 this Saturday when they travel to Georgia Tech in their ACC opener. The point of emphasis this week is on a rushing attack that struggled in the first two games, averaging just 3.2 yards per carry.

On the court in Blacksburg, foul trouble plagued Jeff Allen throughout his entire career. But in the Hokies last five games, Allen has reduced his number of fouls, increased his minutes and increased his production on the court. Against Georgia Tech this weekend, the senior had another big time performance with 25 points and 14 rebounds. It marked Allen's fifth straight double double, and twelfth of the season. Most importantly against the Yellow Jackets, Allen committed just two fouls.

The Virginia Tech Hokies are hoping for a November to remember starting with Thursday night's contest with Georgia Tech.  No series has had any bigger implications for the Hokies in recent memory than the one with the Yellow Jackets. Thursday night's game at Bobby Dodd Stadium in Atlanta will certainly have a championship game feel to it, and for good reason.  The winner of the annual clash between Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech has gone on to represent the ACC's Coastal Division in the championship game, since the league went to divisional play back in 2005.

Virginia Tech found themselves down 14 to nothing in the first quarter against Georgia Tech on a Thursday Night in Blacksburg, VA.  But the Hokies once again rallied for a conference win to improve their ACC record to 5-0.  Virginia Tech's first touchdown came on a Ryan Williams run in the second quarter to cut the lead to 14 to 7 which is where it stayed until the fourth quarter. David Wilson tied the game up with a 15 yard touchdown run with 13:21 left in the game; the sophomore from G.W. Danville was just getting started.

Lane Stadium's big letter 'T' has been returned. The 't' was stolen some time during the night of the Georgia Tech game on September 3rd.  But it showed up at the Georgia Tech police station in the middle of the night two nights ago and was returned to Blacksburg on Monday with an apology from the Georgia Tech administration. There's no indication of who took the 't'.  It's something that has gone on for decades at Georgia Tech, but the university and its student government association are working to put an end to the act of vandalism.

The Cavaliers boasted some sharp shooters last weekend. And it's no coincidence that the team also snapped its three-game losing streak. Georgia Tech entered the John Paul Jones arena on Saturday looking for a win, but Virginia made sure they didn't get it. The Cavs shot an impressive 10 for 15 from behind the arc, a stat that left both players and coaches hopeful for their next match up, against Maryland on Thursday. "I like that we were getting in the lane, and that some three pointers were results from it. There were some drives and drops, those were good things.
