A fire in Giles County over the weekend means hikers from across the country, will have to find somewhere else to rest. The Rendevous Motel, just off U.S. 460 in Pearisburg, caught fire early Saturday morning. No one was hurt, but the property was completely destroyed. For decades, hikers, like Juliette Stephenson, coming off the Appalachian Trail have walked straight into town and into the Rendevous Motel for some much needed rest. "It's very convenient', said Stephenson, 'you come down from Angels mountain and you're coming straight down to the trail and it's the first thing you get to and you can see it and it's where we stayed and I have fond memories.

Two Three Rivers teams that have secured their playoff position hooked up tonight.  District champion Giles looked to complete a perfect district slate, while the Bobcats are in despite taking a sub .500 record to the party. The cheerleaders were trying to stay warm in Pearisburg for the match against Radford. On the Spartans' first play from scrimmage, Hunter Mathias lost the handle and coughed up the pigskin on the turnover. Giles got it right back though. Ian Mann decided to keep the ball and he's rumbling 53 yards, swerving across the field.  They finally dragged him down at Radford's seven yard line.

For one family in Pearisburg, the old saying is true, "when it rains it pours. " For nearly three years they say they've been asking the town to fix an ugly flooding problem. Every time it rains this family gets soaked. The Vandergrifts say every time they hear thunder, they know their about to get drenched. The Vandergrift family bought this home in Pearisburg a couple of years ago. It's a one story home that's turned out to be a basement from hell. "Something needs to be done because with the foundation's cracking it won't be long before the house just falls in," said homeowner Nikki Vandergrift.
