UPDATED 3:50 p.m. Wednesday: The Roanoke Police Department released surveillance footage of the robbery. To watch it, click on the video above. --------------------------------- A Roanoke convenience store was robbed at gunpoint early Tuesday morning. Police say a man went into the 7-Eleven on the 3600 block of Williamson Road around 12:20 a.m. with a gun and demanded money. The robber got away with cash. He was last seen heading south on Williamson Road.

The Roanoke Police Department has released surveillance photos from a burglary early Monday morning at a Roanoke Dairy Queen. Police say some time before 2 a.m. Monday morning, two people broke into the Dairy Queen on Brandon Avenue and stole money. To see more surveillance pictures of the suspects, click here . The Roanoke Police Department has released surveillance pictures from a Christmas Eve robbery of an 84-year-old man outside of a convenience store. Investigators say the suspect pulled out a gun and pushed the man to the ground while stealing his wallet. Click here and here to see the surveillance pictures of the suspect. ------------------------------------ Original story from Dec. 26 Roanoke police are investigating a Christmas Eve robbery. This happened at the A&M Mart on Hollins Road.  Officers say an elderly man was coming out of the store, when a man flashed a gun at him and demanded cash.

APPOMATTOX, Va. (AP) -- A judge has signed an order allowing attorneys for the man charged in the shooting deaths of eight people in Appomattox to obtain any jail surveillance videotapes of the defendant. Appomattox County Commonwealth's Attorney Darrel Puckett says a judge approved the discovery request by Christopher Speight's attorneys Monday. Puckett says it's not clear whether the videotapes exist -- but if they do, the judge's order allows the defense to obtain them along with other records kept by the Lynchburg Adult Detention Center.

The Salem Police Department has released surveillance photos from a break-in early Sunday morning at the Northwest Hardware Store located on West Main Street. Investigators say a man driving a truck shattered the front door of the building with the truck he was driving. They say he then grabbed power tools and drove away. Surveillance video shows a Campbell County man selling his grandparents' jewelry, around the time deputies believe they were shot to death. Robert Philbrook walked in to the Lynchburg Pawn Shop on Fort Avenue February 12 - the same day investigators believe his grandparents, John and Virginia Philbrook, were killed. Surveillance video shows Philbrook carrying a tote bag.  Workers in the store say it was full of jewelry.  Most of the items were costume pieces, but some were made of gold and silver, including a diamond ring from the 1920's.

The Roanoke Police Department has released more surveillance pictures from a robbery of a 7-Eleven on January 19. Police say a man walked into the store and pulled out a gun. The Roanoke Police Department says the suspect has a distinct design on his jeans. Click here to see more surveillance pictures. ========================== Original story from January 22 Roanoke police hope a surveillance photo will help solve an armed robbery. A man robbed the 7-11 on Bennington Street Saturday morning.  The store clerk told investigators that the man came into the store around 4:15 a.m., pulled out a gun and demanded money.  He got away with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Roanoke Police Department Seeks Public's Assistance in Identifying Individuals at the Scene of an Aggravated Assault from Roanoke City PD on Vimeo . The Roanoke Police Department has released surveillance video of a fight and subsequent shooting at a Roanoke gas station. Three people were shot November 5 outside of the Shell gas station in the 2900 block of Hershberger Road. The surveillance video of the shooting is below. According to investigators 37-year-old Frank Cooper, 20-year-old Joshua Poindexter, and 25-year-old Antonio Gravely were all shot.

The Roanoke County Police Department is looking for a man they say stole money from a car wash soda machine. Investigators say the man pulled up to the Express Jet Car Wash around 1:30 a.m. April 27 on a moped. He's then seen on surveillance video walking around the soda machine, and then tinkering with it. Police say the suspect damaged the machine, and was able to remove money from it. To see more pictures of the suspect, click here .

For the nearly 1,800 registered sex offenders in our area, checks by State Police are part of their life. Twice a year at their home and within a month after any change of employment, troopers go out and check in with the offenders. Bylines in the Governor's proposed budget would add civilian positions with far less training to be a part of the unit that does these checks. 43 "survelliance officers" would be hired.  A spokesperson for State Police says more than 2,000 have already applied.
